Seriously, we have to talk. On Saturday, June 9, at 2 pm, Vanessa Bates will be speaking about her work at Fifth Avenue Art Gallery. Preoccupation, art by the 100% Pure Florida 2017 winner, opened on May 29. This is your chance to get a glimpse into the mind of a very interesting artist. Her work will captivate you with her sharp sense of humor and irony. Count on a delightful adventure in color and message. This is an exhibit you might want to visit at least twice.
“The subject matter itself is often chosen for humor, expressed either as visual irony or lighthearted observation,” said Bates. She began her career as a graphic designer and illustrator but gravitated towards fine art as her experimentation in color drifted outside the gamut possible with traditional printing techniques. She says of her work, “Early illustration lessons still influence my art as each work has a simple focus and studied use of color and light to direct attention to the subject of the piece.” Vanessa works in both acrylic and digital with equal fluency.
The exhibit will run through June 30. Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is located in the Eau Gallie Arts District in Melbourne, FL. All events are free and open to the public.
