Preoccupation by Vanessa Bates at Fifth Avenue Art Gallery

Exhibit Dates: May 29 - June 30, 2018

This is the final week for you to experience Preoccupation, art by 2017 100% Pure Florida winner, Vanessa Bates. Her delightful work has been a stimulating presence for visitors to Fifth Avenue Art Gallery. Stop by this week and experience her world for yourself. Vanessa works in both acrylic and digital and her pieces lead the viewer into a new world where digital and reality blend seamlessly. It truly is work for the new world.

“The subject matter itself is often chosen for humor, expressed either as visual irony or lighthearted observation,” said Bates. She began her career as a graphic designer and illustrator but gravitated towards fine art as her experimentation in color drifted outside the gamut possible with traditional printing techniques. She says of her work, “Early illustration lessons still influence my art as each work has a simple focus and studied use of color and light to direct attention to the subject of the piece.” Her attention to detail, color, form and message work together to create works with many layers of meaning from the humorous to the depths of seriousness. Preoccupation will close at the end of the business day on Saturday, June 30.

Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is located in the Eau Gallie Arts District in Melbourne, FL. All events are free and open to the public.
