Artist's Talk by Renee Decator at Fifth Avenue Art Gallery

Exhibit Dates: October 3 - October 29, 2017
Renee´Decator will be offering an artist's talk on Saturday, October 14, at 1 PM, at Fifth Avenue Art Gallery.  She will be discussing her techniques and material choices in her work. This is a free event and open to the public.

Renee Decator, a mixed-media artist, is a long time member of Fifth Avenue Art Gallery. She resides in Indialantic, Florida, with her husband Jay and two wiener dogs, Sweet Pea and Beau. Currently her work involves mixed-media, incorporating acrylic paint, paper, found objects, textiles and beeswax. She loves challenges, and combines different materials to allow for creative problem solving. Decator says of her process, “The art process, for me, involves exploration of my personal history and what the future may bring. I like creating art that is unpredictable and inviting—art that allows the viewer to use their imagination.”

She further explains her work, “Dreams and Wishes, Birds and Fishes will showcase the artwork that has been inspired by all the blessings in my life and the big dreams that make each day exciting and full of possibilities. I wanted this collection to be dreamy and full of surprises, with love and hope and lots of fun 2D and 3D art that expresses the wonders that I encounter each day.”

Decator attended Artquest School of Art & Design in Volusia County, Florida, before moving to Brevard County in 1995. She has been a member of Fifth Avenue Art Gallery for 10 years and has chaired many charitable exhibitions since joining the gallery. She works at her studio in downtown Melbourne, Florida. She loves tropical gardening, which is often an inspiration for her work.

Dreams and Wishes, Birds and Fishes will run through October 29. Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is located in the Eau Gallie arts district of Melbourne, Florida. All events are free and open to the public.
