August Featured Artists: Debbie Tweedie, Sally Auman at Studios of Cocoa Beach

The Studios of Cocoa Beach, 165 Minuteman Causeway in downtown Cocoa Beach, highlights the work of Debbie Tweedie and Sally Auman as their August Featured Artists.  In addition to being an excellent photographer, Debbie is an inventive sculptor, using palm fiber to create sea creatures.  Sally is an experienced traveler and award winning photographer who combines Encaustic (Wax) Painting with Digital Photography to create unique images.

Debbie explains her new work “ my background in marine biology has allowed me to enjoy the marine environment. I enjoy the chance to share this unique environment and organisms with the general public. I find it very relaxing to allow my mind to create the fish and starfish from different mediums.  I always have some type of camera on my person. You never know when you will see that perfect shot.”

Sally explains.” Photography has always been part of my life since my father was a professional photographer in Cocoa Beach.  For me photography is the beginning of my creative process.  I may edit and print the photo, or alter the photo digitally, use photo transfer techniques, add oil paint, or embed it in encaustic wax.  I am captivated by both my Florida surroundings and by different places, cultures and history.  My work always reflects my personal interpretation and my fascination with contemporary art prompts me to keep trying new things.”

The exhibit runs through the month of August. One of Sally’s pieces will be given away during the Studio’s open house on August 25th. The Studios of Cocoa Beach is a non-profit cooperative gallery features 25 plus local artists and offers a full schedule of workshops in a variety of techniques for both adults and children. The Studio is open Monday and Tuesday 10:30 – 3:30, Wednesday through Saturday 10:30 -8pm, and Sundays 11 am – 4pm.  For more information, visit the website:  www.studiosofcocoabeach.org or call 321-613-3480
