Exhibit dates: February 28 - April 2, 2017
This is the last week to spend some quiet time among the trees, cypresses to be specific, at Musings in Color, the current exhibit at Fifth Avenue Art Gallery. Then rev up your senses with a viewing of the Dancers series. Both series are the work of Fifth Avenue Art Gallery member, Witha Lacuesta. This exhibit will come down at closing on Sunday, April 2.
The Cypress Tree series came about by inspiration from an excursion to the Blue Cypress Conservation area which serves as headwaters for St. Johns River. Artist Witha Lacuesta allowed the trees to speak through her brush and the result is a quiet atmosphere of strength. Witha said of her trip, " The beauty of these century old trees was deeply moving. Having withstood various weather extremes, they stand for persistence, resilience, and grace. They also inspire us to strive for the same attributes when facing adversity or solitude."
Witha has been painting for many years. She has studied in Germany and the US. Witha says of her work "...my focus is to try to capture the beauty of the world around us and interpret it according to my feelings and sense of being. I would like my viewers to find a pleasant sanctuary in my paintings where they can quietly reflect and discover a sense of peace."
In addition, a second series entitled 'Dancers' compliments the trees with a different mood. Here Lacuesta uses color and shape to express dynamic abstract watercolors.
All events are free and open to the public. Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is located in the Eau Gallie Art District in Melbourne, FL.
