WILLIAM LURCOTT – FLAGLER BEACH
ARTIST AND ADVENTURER
Pastel and Oil Painter Featured at
Ocean Art Gallery
FLAGLER BEACH, FL – On Saturday, September 3, plein air artist William Lurcott will be featured at Ocean Art Gallery in Flagler Beach from 6 to 8 pm during the Opening Reception of his month-long show “A Landscape Perspective.” The public is invited to this free event.
While Lurcott has experience painting any medium, he prefers pastels and oils. He said recently, “The kinesthetic handling of pastel, from the support (sanded papers, gessoed boards, and prepared grounds on various surfaces), to the application and textural components of the sticks themselves, provide for a tactile experience unequaled with any other medium. Just the handling of them has provided for a whole universe of exploration for me”
Lurcott continues to educate and re-invent himself both as an artist and as a human being on a great adventure. He lives near the sea with his wife, Lauree, in Flagler Beach. He considers the painting process to be an exploration and adventure into light and color, with his art evolving as his perspective and vision change.
He is a self-taught artist whose artwork is in both corporate and private collections throughout the United States and Europe. He has participated in national juried art shows for over a decade, showing his work in New York, Chicago, Colorado, Atlanta, Houston, Jackson Hole, and numerous other venues.
“A Landscape Perspective” runs from September 3 through September 30. His opening reception on September 3 will be showcased in the main gallery space which is often reserved for featured artists, talks, musical performances, and other community-based events. During the reception, the artist will meet with guests and explain his artistic techniques. Light refreshments and live music will be available. As normal for the gallery’s art opening receptions, this is a free event to which everyone is invited.
