Exhibit dates: October 3-30, 2016
The month of October will see Fifth Avenue Art Gallery hosting gallery member Phyllis Shipley's Visions of Italy. Phyllis has been producing fine art for the past thirty years and has been a successful gallery owner, a successful art show participant and award winner, and a continuing student in the details of water color and acrylics.
Shipley says “My paintings begin with pouring, glazing or washes of color. As I manipulate the paint, an image begins to develop. I strive to get out of the way and let spirit take control.” She uses color to express energy, life and excitement. Her hope is to create art that is full of color, energetic, joy, and excitement.
Shipley, a native of Johnson City, Tennessee, uses her intuition to create loose and flowing colors with a musical fluidity of expression. Phyllis began painting in the early 1980’s. After years of playing and teaching music with the organ and piano, raising children, and a successful career as a purchasing executive with a major chemical corporation, the time was right to pursue her dream and passion. Painting for her is like a musical score, expressing emotion and beauty in the brush as the melody rings in our ears.
She is an exhibiting member at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery. Phyllis is also currently an exhibiting artist at the newly opened Art Avenue Gallery located in Sarasota, Florida. She is further represented by the Liz-Beth Gallery of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Visions of Italy will run from October 3 through October 30 with a First Friday opening on October 7, from 5:30 - 8:30 pm. Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is located in the Eau Gallie Arts District in Melbourne, FL.
