Ellen Lindner’s art quilt, Coastal Overlook, was awarded first place in the mixed media category at the recent Titusville Art League Spring Art Show.
She was inspired to make this piece after driving along the Pacific Coast Highway. Her statement reads:
The view from the Pacific Coast Highway is mesmerizing! The mountains plunge steeply into the sea, which is a wonderful teal color. Rocks jut upward, waves churn, and golden grasses sway gently.
Lindner wanted to replicate the energy of the surf. She did so by inserting little strips of fabric using a technique called improvisational piecing.
