Can you believe it’s been 7 years! To celebrate this year, Art Gallery of Viera is doing something extra special - in addition to highlighting new works from their members, they would like to express their gratitude to the community by holding a food drive during the month of May to benefit local food pantries.

To join them in the celebration, please bring a non-perishable food item to the gallery when you visit and help them help others anytime throughout the month.

The Opening Reception for this show will be May 14th, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. It will be a fun night where you can meet the artists and enter to win a piece of art by Sue Kennicott. As an added bonus, this month their featured artist is the People’s Choice winner Nathan Adams. So come and celebrate with them. There is plenty to see and light refreshments will be served. The event is free and family friendly.

by Nate Adams

A bit about Nate:
The featured artist for May is Nathan Adams, People’s Choice Winner from Tropical Daze 2015. A Satellite Beach native, Nate didn’t get to explore his dreams of photography until after serving in the US Army from 1996-2000, and graduating with honors from DeVry University in 2005. It became pretty clear that the 9-5 life wasn’t for him, so he soon took the opportunity to pursue the photography world, particularly in regards to surfing. It was Nate’s first passion, having grown up on the beach his whole life and with salt water forever flowing through his veins.

Nate is now the photo editor for Eastern Surf Magazine, ESM, office in Melbourne Beach. After years of dropping off images of recent swells, he was offered the position during a surprise lunch meeting with the owners. Seven years later, Nate is living the dream: traveling the world and helping create the Surf Bible for the East Coast Brethren. In Nate’s own words, “With the time behind the lens and at the helm of the imaging world, my love for the ocean and the lifestyle it encompasses coupled by the ability to capture these amazing moments, has opened my mind even more to what I love and how I can bring that same emotion to those who view my work, or so I hope!”
