Eau Gallie Arts District Main Street Celebrates a Big Weekend Feb 6 -- Founders Day Celebrates 155 Years of Eau Gallie History
MELBOURNE FL—The Eau Gallie Arts District (EGAD!) and the Eau Gallie Rotary Club are proud to host the sixth annual Eau Gallie Founders’ Day on historic Highland Avenue on Saturday, February 6, from Noon-5 p.m. Joining EGAD and the Rotary this year is The M.O.R.G.A.N. Project who is bringing their ever popular Turtle Splash event to the Eau Gallie waterfront plus kid games and activities on Highland Avenue. Plastic turtles are raffled off and raced on the river as a fundraiser for the M.O.R.G.A.N. Project which provides therapeutic and fun experiences to children with physical and developmental needs. Purchase turtles from their website at www.turtlesplash.org.
The annual Founders Day tradition celebrates the historical roots of the town of Eau Gallie and includes live musical entertainment from HOT PINK, special activities from the Eau Gallie Public Library and Foosaner Art Museum. Historic presentations and exhibits from the Florida Historical Society and South Brevard Historical Society and others on topics including Green Gables, the Rossetter House, the Wendover Project and famous historical Brevard families are held under the big tent. It’s family fun for all ages in honor of the founders of Eau Gallie. The South Brevard Historical Society is also hosting a Highland Avenue Homes Tour. Tickets will be available at the ticket booth.
This event is free and open to the public. Ala carte meals from Squid Lips and JR’s Ribs are $10 for the entree and two sides plus one water or soft drink. Beer from Intracoastal Brewing Company is $5 each. Avoid standing in line and purchase your beer and dinner tickets online in advance at www.eaugalliefoundersday.org.
Kickoff the weekend at EGAD’s First Friday on the night before, February 5 from 5:30-8:30 pm in the Eau Gallie Square with live entertainment in the band shell and food, beer and wine available. And enjoy the ArtWalk through the Eau Gallie Arts District galleries.
