Luxury Bus to Art Basel, Miami Beach on December 5, 2015
For the third year, Eau Gallie Arts District (EGAD) has taken art enthusiasts to Miami Beach for the best art show in the country—Art Basel Miami. The show runs for the first week of December, but the “Basel Bus” is an easy one day trip. The bus leaves from Eau Gallie Square at 8 am and returns no later than 9 pm. With a quick stop mid-way on the Turnpike, the bus arrives Miami Beach at 10:30 am. The bus leaves Miami by 6 pm. Riders are free to go off and spend the day as they wish, as long as they return to the departure destination by 6 pm. If you’re not an art enthusiastic, consider it a great way to South Beach for the day.
The main show is in the Convention Center, but there are satellite shows scattered up and down historic Collins Avenue in the art deco hotels that have been emptied and rooms converted into mini-galleries. Most have a small admission fee, but it’s the greatest collection of creativity you can absorb in a day. Have lunch in one of the cool hotels or at the SCOPE art show which always has a great food bar. SCOPE is held in a big tent in the sand on the beach.
Tickets are available online at www.baselbus.com. Full details, including links to all things Art Basel, are also on the site. Native Miamians say this is an event that must be experienced to believe. It’s world class art and people watching all in a day.
Ticket prices are tiered with the lowest fare being $30 for Brevard County art teachers, $50 for EGAD members, and $60 for non-EGAD members. Leave the driving to us and enjoy the ride. Adults only please; this is a very difficult trip for children.
