Visual Artistry features the Avian Photographic Art of Joe Campanellie

FLAGLER BEACH, FL - Ocean Art Gallery will hold an Art Opening Reception on the First Friday, June 5th from 6 - 9 PM for Joe Campanellie, master photographer, featuring his avian and nature photographic art. Campanellie will be available for questions and discussion about his nature photography and long lens techniques for avian photography. The reception at 200 S. Oceanshore Boulevard, Flagler Beach, is open to the public and refreshments will be served.  Titled "Visual Artistry", the show will remain as the featured collection through June. Campanellie has been with Ocean Art Gallery since April of 2013.

Campanellie’s introduction to photography was quite by accident when he picked up a friends’ camera and began to “play” one day.  From the moment that he developed his first roll of film to his first black and white print, he has been “hooked.”  For the past 30 years, he built a reputation as one of Maryland’s premier portrait photographers.  It has only been recently that he has returned to one of his first great loves…nature photography.
The images that are currently exhibited at Ocean Art Gallery began as an exercise to rekindle his lost passion in photography. But it became so much more to him personally, professionally, and creatively. What began as a series of self assignments to avoid total creative burnout has now become a body of work that defines him as the photographer he is today.
In October 2012, Joe and his wife, Mary Jean, relocated to Palm Coast, Florida, to pursue fulltime his passion for nature photography. The Smokey Mountains, the Bald Eagles of Alaska, the beautiful American scenic landscapes, and especially the Migratory Birds of Florida, are some of his favorite subjects.
Campanellie received the Master of Photography Degree in 1996 and the Photographic Craftsman Degree in 1998 from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).  In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Fellowship Degree from the American Society of Photographers.  Since its’ inception some 40 years ago, there are only 85 "living" photographers worldwide to have completed the thesis and portfolio requirements for this highly honored degree. He also is a three-time recipient of the PPA's Diamond Photographer of the Year.
His images have won critical acclaim from such respected organizations as Eastman Kodak, the Fuji Film Corp., the Professional Photographers of America and the American Society of Photographers.  In 2011 a collection of his prints was awarded the Canon Par Excellence Award, considered the pinnacle of achievement at the regional competition level.
Campanellie’s images have been displayed at the Photographer’s International Hall of Fame in Chicago, the Epcot Exhibit in Orlando, Florida, Dulles Airport in Virginia, a special exhibit in Washington, D.C., and internationally through the Professional Photographers of America’s International Loan Collection.  His images have been accepted into many juried art shows throughout the United States, as well as private and corporate collections.
As an iInternational affiliate juror, he and his wife, Mary Jean, maintain an active speaking and judging schedule addressing professional photography organizations, photography schools, seminars, and conducting workshops throughout the country.
