If you ever wanted to see how Ellen Pavlakos makes her timeless sculptures, come down to the gallery on Wednesday afternoons in October, from 1 to 4pm when Ellen will be working on the figures. She graciously spends time with each visitor answering questions and explaining what she is doing. Just to see the gallery transformed into a working studio space is amazing. The Front Galleries are overflowing with Ellen's work.
The figure is Ellen's vehicle of expression. There is a continuing thread of concern with human emotions through most of her work. Through a link to the classical Greek, a positive feeling of the human experience and glorification of life communicates directly to the viewer.
Ellen Pavlakos, one of the long-standing members in the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery, is internationally acclaimed and collected. The gallery has many bronze pieces of her work. Pavlakos' sculptures are exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the state of Florida and she has competed and exhibited in many statewide and national competitions as well as in Paris, France, Athens and Thessalonica, Greece and Nicosia, Cyprus.
The Fifth Avenue Art Gallery, across from the Foosaner Art Museum in EGAD, the Eau Gallie Arts District, will be celebrating its Fortieth Anniversary in February 2015.
