Art and Antique Studio and Gallery Celebrates 10 Years in Eau Gallie with the Power of Ten exhibit with paintings by their current gallery members. President-Therese Ferguson challenged the artists to create paintings illustrating the power of Ten. The exhibit will open, Friday, October 3, during the monthly art walk (5:30-8:30) and will hang for the entire month of October. The public is invited to an evening of celebration with food and music.
Ten years ago, the co-op gallery (Art and Antique Studio and Gallery) began with co-founders, Therese Payne Ferguson and Debbie Bowes McElwain. The object was to have a working studio where artists could create, teach and invite the public to meet them personally.
Celebrating its tenth anniversary in what is now known as the Eau Gallie Arts District (EGAD), the gallery looks forward to showcasing the outstanding talent Brevard County has to offer, presenting (hundreds of exhibits) with the works of local and out-of-town artists on a monthly basis with such themes as Save the Chimps, The Porsche Art Car, China Painters, Stained Glass Wonders, Historical Photos of our Space History, Wildlife, Nature, a High Flying Photographer. And, two of their favorites, A Garden Tea Party and Southern Marketplace and the annual Miniature Show.
In March 2015, the Gallery will host a state-wide juried art show: KALEIDOSCOPE of ART. This show will be open to all Florida and seasonal residents and will include 2-D and 3-D artwork. More information and applications will be available at the Gallery and on our website artandaniquestudio.com.
Today, the artist-run gallery has achieved a very unique look combining antique furniture and glass with fine art, and the koi pond floor that the members painted. Many of our artists have quite a history of winning awards locally, statewide and nationally which is a tribute to their talent. Art collectors often return to pick up new works from their favorite artists as well as commissions. President Therese Ferguson said, “The secret to the success of our gallery is the wide-range of talents here and the artists themselves. They are a great bunch of people who are passionate about their art and work really great together. Come in for a look... you'll like what you see."
The gallery is partners with the Courtyard Studio, where classes are taught and studio space is available on an on-going basis.
