Cocoa, FL— The Photograph "Glowing Lily" by local photographer, Ed Quillian, was awarded a "First Place Ribbon" and an annual family membership award during the annual 2014 McKee Botanical Garden's Waterlily Photography Contest held on June 21, 2014. There were over 110 submissions in the contest and the competition was fierce. Special thanks to the panel of judges: Louis Ciszek, Dick Robertson and Aric Attas. Ed stated, "The competition in this contest is tremendous. I have entered this contest for the last 2 years with no success, and to finally achieve an award is a great honor. I also would like to thank McKee Botanical Gardens, the staff and the panel of judges for all their hard work."
Ed is a listed member photographer artist with the Brevard Cultural Alliance located in Brevard County, Florida, and has several images that have been placed with the "Art in Public Places" program. He is also a member photographer artist with the Central Brevard Art Association and has artwork displayed with the "Art in Public Spaces", located at the Viera Suntree Library for exhibit and for sale. He is a member of the "Camera Club of Brevard", and on Tuesday, June 3 at the monthly meeting, he was awarded an "Honorable Mention Rosette Ribbon" for an image, "Nature's Gift" in the Class A (advanced) local club photography competition. He is also a member of the Florida Camera Club Council. Along with his wife Ruth, he is attending classes at Eastern Florida State College to achieve a Professional Certification in Photography.
