The space for the show was donated by Jimmy and Jacie Stivers, owners of 1052 Cypress Avenue. Says Jacie, "We have an empty space and want to draw attention to it, creatively. Jimmy and I are staunch supporters of EGAD and thought this could be a fun event for the artists and community. " The Stivers worked with Derek Gores, who suggested a 30-day studio residency concept and selected the artists. The idea is the artists could have a dedicated workspace to tackle a unique body of work in the space, culminating with the 'pop up' one weekend exhibition of the art created.

Expect modern, colorful and provocative paintings, as well as three dimensional work. Jeff Filipski's signature mind-bending scenes even overflow onto the largest wall in the space.  Joanna White's sculptures are the most dimensional works and yet most fragile in the show. Alex Stankiewicz, a plein aire specialist, focused on captivating outdoor moments in the EGAD area during his month.

Friday's event will include live entertainment by Alfie Silva, drinks by FooBar, ice cream and more by Mr. J's. Saturday is a quieter affair~ a chance to talk with the artists about their work, from 11am-2pm.
