First Place Rosette Ribbon and $300.00 Awarded to Ed Quillian's "Sunrise Storm" Photograph at the 5th Avenue Art Gallery's "Drawing with Light" Contest





Cocoa, FL— The Photograph "Sunrise Storm" by local photographer, Ed Quillian, was awarded a "First Place Rosette Ribbon" and a check for $300.00 at the opening reception February 7 at the 5th Avenue Art Gallery. There was a large turnout of artist, photographers, guests and the public that attended the awards ceremony on the "First Friday" of the month event at the 5th Avenue Gallery. The "Drawing with Light" winner's photographs are on exhibition/sale now and go through March 2, 2014. The gallery is located at 1470 Highland Ave. Melbourne, Florida.

Ed said, "It was an honor just to be a part of the juried photography exhibit at the 5th Avenue Art Gallery, but to win "First Place" and be recognized along with all the talented photographers in the contest was a fulfilling accomplishment. I would like to recognize and give thanks/credit to Dan Striby at Sterling Photography (Melbourne Fl.) for the printing/mounting of the 20" x 30" gallery wrap "Sunrise Storm" image, and to Southern Janitor Supply (Melbourne Fl.) for sponsoring the "First Place" award. I also would like to thank Mark Mittleman and the members of the 5th Avenue Art Gallery for all the hard work to ensure the exhibition went smoothly and was a first class event."

Ed is a listed member photographer artist with the Brevard Cultural Alliance located in Brevard County Florida, and has several images that have been placed with the "Art in Public Places" program. He is also a member photographer artist with the Central Brevard Art Association, and has artwork displayed with the "Art in Public Spaces", located at the Cocoa Beach Country Club for exhibit and for sale. He is a member of the "Camera Club of Brevard", and on Tuesday, February 4 at the monthly meeting, he was awarded a "First Place Ribbon" for the "Sunrise Storm" image in the Class A (advanced) local club photography competition and that photograph will be displayed at Southern Photo (Melbourne Fl.) for the month of February. He is also a member of the Florida Camera Club Council.  Along with his wife Ruth, he is attending classes at Eastern Florida State College to achieve a Professional Certification in Photography.
