Cocoa, FL— The Photograph "Sunrise Storm" by local photographer, Ed Quillian, was selected to be among the 26 pieces of artwork out of 135 total submitted in the "Drawing with Light" exhibit, located at the 5th Avenue Art Gallery. The gallery is located at 1470 Highland Ave. Melbourne, Florida. The juried exhibition will start on February 4th and go through March 2, 2014. The opening reception date will be Friday, February 7, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. where the public can meet all the artists and photographers. “Sunrise Storm” is the title of the artwork and is of Cocoa Beach Pier on a stormy sunrise morning.
“It's is an honor to be part of the juried photography exhibit at the 5th Avenue Art Gallery,” said Quillian. "There is a lot of talented photographers that will be in this event." "I went with a black and white image of the pier with the sunrise light showing through the pilings because it really meets the intent of the "Drawing with Light" Exhibition."
Ed is a listed member photographer artist with the Brevard Cultural Alliance located in Brevard County Florida, and has several images that have been placed with the "Art in Public Places" program. He is also a member photographer artist with the Central Brevard Art Association, and has artwork displayed with the "Art in Public Spaces", located at the Cocoa Beach Country Club for exhibit and for sale. He is a member of the "Camera Club of Brevard", and has received numerous competition awards and temporary displays in a local camera shop. He is also a member of the Florida Camera Club Council. Along with his wife Ruth, he is attending classes at Eastern Florida State College to achieve a Professional Certification in Photography.
