Cocoa, FL— The Photograph “Cape Hospital” by local photographer, Ruth Stanley-Quillian, has been selected as a finalist in the 34th Annual College & High School Photography Contest. The Annual contest is sponsored by Photographers Forum Magazine and co-sponsored by Nikon. Her photograph is in the top 104 of over 16,600 photographs entered from the US, Canada, and around the world in the college category and moves on to the next round of judging. The photograph will be published in the hard cover book Best of College and High School Photography 2014.
Ruth was awarded an Honorable Mention last year in the 33th Annual College & High School Photography Contest when she placed in the top 100. She is a listed member photographer with the Brevard Cultural Alliance located in Brevard County, Florida and has several images that have been placed with the "Art in Public Places" program. She is also a member of the Central Brevard Art Association and recently won a Certificate of Merit at the Cape Canaveral Library Show. Several of her photographs can be seen on display at the Cocoa Beach Country Club and are for sale. She is a member of the Camera Club of Brevard and the Florida Camera Club Council has received numerous competition awards and temporary displays in a local camera shop.
Ruth lives in Cocoa with her husband Ed who is also a photographer. Together they are the owners of QCA Photography & Graphic Art. They are both enrolled in the Eastern Florida State College Professional Photography Certificate program. Ruth says "It's thrilling to be a finalist and have my photo printed in a book that will be seen around the world.” She loves to travel throughout Florida and the US to photograph nature, landscapes, and cityscapes.
