The artists of Cocoa Village are teaming up to bring you Art in The Heart of Cocoa an evening of art and entertainment on Saturday Nov. 2nd from 6-9pm. Stroll the streets, enjoy live music and complementary refreshments and view some of the best art offered in Brevard County.
Once known as Gallery Walk this event now features Artist’s Studios rather than traditional galleries. Our 1st Gallery Walk had 13 galleries” says Lori Prell, who’s helped coordinate every gallery walk since its inception in 2000. Lori owns a colorful work studio that’s open to the public but at one time she owned Black Dog Gallery where she represented other artists. ”Now the trend is for artists to rent space and represent themselves. As we had fewer galleries in town we had a harder time defining what a gallery was. We didn’t want to abandon the event but it needed updating.”
Among those participating in this inaugural yet longstanding event are:
Carolyn Seiler & Friends an artist’s co-op, now hosting 15 outstanding local artists.
Upstairs Studios of Harrison St. 7 artists and 2 musicians including Lori Prell, Loys Locklear and newcomer Alexa Hudson along with nationally recognized Outsider artist Kurt Zimmerman. Downstairs Harry Guthrie Phillips shows his marine sculptures.
Art and Soul, Indian River Gallery, and Sand and Sea, all artist owned and operated will open their doors that night.
Jan’s u frame it will feature watercolorist Phyllis Shipley.
Space Coast Crafters Co-op is showing off airy new digs. In all more than 25 artists will be on hand to meet, greet and show you their best stuff. With door prizes and live music by Chris Kahl, this event is free and open to the public.
