Melbourne, FL— The Photograph “Rainy Day Pier” by local photographer, Ruth Stanley-Quillian, was selected for the “One Hundred Percent Pure Florida” Exhibition at the 5th Ave Art Gallery in Downtown Eau Gallie. The black & white photograph “Rainy Day Pier” was taken on the Daytona Beach pier during a Camera Club of Brevard outing. Display will be from September 3 to September 29, 2013 with the opening reception on Friday, September 6 from 5:30 to 8:30pm.
The photograph was a finalist in the 2013 Photographers Forum Magazine 33rd Annual College and High School Photography Contest. The photo placed in the top 100 of over 30 thousand entrants earning an Honorable Mention Award. During the Camera Club of Brevard 2012 Annual Print Competition it won third place and the Stan Crandall Peoples Choice Award.
Ruth is a listed member photographer with the Brevard Cultural Alliance located in Brevard County Florida, and has several images that have been placed with the "Art in Public Places" program. Two of her photographs can be seen on display at the Space Coast Cancer Center in Viera and are for sale. She is a member of the Camera Club of Brevard and the Florida Camera Club Council has received numerous competition awards and temporary displays in a local camera shop. In 2012 the Creative Arts Foundation of Brevard "All That Art" awarded her a Juried-in Excellence in Photography Award, and the photograph was placed in the Harris Gallery in the King Center for a period of time.
Ruth lives in Cocoa with her husband Ed who is also a photographer. Together they are the owners of QCA Photography & Graphic Art. They are both enrolled in the Eastern Florida State College Professional Photography Certificate program.
