HEIR-LOOMS: To (for)give and (for)get Visual and Performing Art Exhibition by Danielle Horak

Presented by EGAD! Art Lab, sponsored by Funk's Antiquary

MELBOURNE, FL. Friday, August 16, 6-9pm.  "If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance." -George Bernard Shaw
Witness a captivating combination of paintings, installations and performance art in the first solo exhibition by one of the newest additions to the Brevard art scene. Says Danielle about the exhibit, "The heirlooms we inherit determine our peculiarities, ghosts, and dreams.  One's genetic code, family secret, and grandmother's china pattern hold whisperings of the heir's past, present, and future."

Through the drawings, installations, and performance art of Danielle Horak's Heirlooms, she honors the inheritance she treasures and exposes the dusty skeletons she keeps in storage. Danielle Horak is a Florida-based performance artist, sculptor, and visual arts teacher.  Her work explores the nature of transformation through destruction and redemption.
She is currently pursuing her MA in Art Education from the University of Florida.

Says EGAD Art Lab owner Derek Gores, "Danielle's work manages humor, difficult questions, and raw honesty. The individual performance pieces she has contributed to several shows in the last year have been smash hits, and this opportunity to see a concentrated collection of her thoughts promises to be amazing."

The show is sponsored by Funk's Antiquary, in the EGAD Arts District. The show runs Through September 15. Hours are typically 10-4 Monday through Friday and by appointment. 321-258-2119
