Art Exhibition inspired by subjective reality and the re-imagining of language
Presented by EGAD! Art Lab
MELBOURNE, FL. Opening Friday, June 7, 6pm. EGAD! Art Lab presents “AUTOFLUX”, the work of Dave Thomas, in his first solo exhibition. The show is a powerful blend of abstraction, street style, and graphic inspired imagery, aimed at rethinking the way we understand language and the subjective reality that is everyday life. The show is at times intimate, and at others distant and challenging, but gorgeous throughout. The work covers a vast array of emotion, dealing with loss, ecstasy, and the quiet comfort of realization, all through the eyes and hands of Dave Thomas.
“It’s really an obsession.” Brevard newcomer Thomas explains. “I hope to write with an emotional language, as opposed to literal words that already have preconceived meanings. It is intangible. Feeling is tough to convey; my writing/mark making is my most direct way to express it. True empathy is impossible, but getting closer is worth the effort through art. We're all just characters in someone else's dream.”
Art, drinks, and music; AUTOFLUX will be a treat for the senses and for the mind.
Opening Night, Friday, June 7, 6-11 pm. The exhibit will run for approximately a month. EGAD Art Lab is usually open Monday through Friday, 10-4 and by appointment.
Gallery talk and walk through the following day, Saturday, June 8, at 2pm. Come to get a more in depth look at both the artist and work.
