Art and Antique Studio and Gallery... Made in the Shade in July 2013

ART AND ANTIQUE STUDIO AND GALLERY
CELEBRATES NINE YEARS
WITH “MADE IN THE SHADE” EXHIBIT JULY 2013

“Which Way to Paradise” by Jeanette Keen

Art and Antique Studio and Gallery celebrates NINE years in Eau Gallie with “MADE IN THE SHADE” exhibit by gallery members.  The gallery will welcome visits with flowers, island music, shady umbrellas, breezy fans and island dancers”.  Original pieces, done by members will be on display and for sale.  In perfect form, President-Therese Ferguson challenged the artists to create paintings based on “Made in the Shade” their interpretation.  The exhibit will open, Friday, July 5th and will be up the entire month of July.  The exhibit opens during the monthly art walk (5:30-8:30) and will hang for the entire month of July.  The public is invited to an evening of celebration with samplings of island foods and shady spots to enjoy the celebration.

NINE years ago, the co-op gallery (“Art and Antique Studio and Gallery) began with co-founders, Therese Payne Ferguson and Debbie Bowes McElwain.  The “object” was to have a working studio where artists could create, teach and invite the public to meet them personally.

Celebrating its NINTH anniversary in what is now known as the “Eau Gallie Arts District” (EGAD), the Gallery looks forward to showcasing the outstanding talent Brevard County has to offer, presenting (hundreds of exhibits) with the works of local and out-of-town artists on a monthly basis with such themes as “Save the Chimps”,  “The Porsche Art Car”, “China Painters, “Stained Glass Wonders”, Historical Photos of our Space History, “Wildlife,  Nature, a ”High Flying Photographer”, “Bronze Sculptures”, “It’s Raining Cats & Dogs, and two of their favorites,  “A Garden Tea Party and Southern Marketplace” and “an outstanding Miniature Show.

A lot has changed in NINE short years…..from what was a small studio belonging to Therese is now an established co-op gallery of local, talented, and award winning artists and an excellent group of associate members who display work in the gallery on a consignment basis.  The gallery is partners with the “Courtyard Studio”, where classes are taught by Therese Ferguson, Jon Houghton and Lolly Walton.  The popular studio space is shared by local artists Beth Kring and Phyllis Marple.   It is no easy task to keep the gallery new and fresh, but thanks to multi-talented members who draw on their excellent decorating, marketing, and business skills the gallery continues to be one of the top galleries in Brevard County and a must “visit” in the art district”.  Website:  artandantiquestudioandgallery.com
