Earl Evans wins Photography Award

Last Light

Melbourne, FL--A member of Fifth Avenue Art Gallery, Earl Evans, received his second consecutive “Photograph of the Year Award” during the Indian River Photo Club’s annual Year-end Banquet and Competition. This is the first time that a member has collected the club’s highest individual award two years in a row. The 2012 award was for his old barn image, Last Light while 2011 was for the Great Blue Heron piece, Irritated.

The Indian River Photo Club of Vero Beach, one of the state’s larger and more established photography groups, also holds monthly contests and sponsors the annual photo competition for the Vero Beach Museum of Art. Evans has won numerous awards in these competitions. The year-end contest is the club’s most prestigious since only awarded images from the year’s monthly contests are eligible for inclusion. The competition is judged by a panel of professional artists and photographers.

Evans is immediate past vice-president of the club. In addition to being a member of the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery, he is vice-president of the Camera Club of Brevard and a member of the Beech Mountain (NC) Art Guild. He has received many significant photography awards and his work is frequently exhibited in museums, galleries and other venues. To see more of Evans’ work, visit the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery at 1470 Highland Avenue in the Eau Gallie Arts District (EGAD) of Melbourne.
