The V Centennial Celebration of the Discovery of Florida by Juan Ponce de Leon in Melbourne Beach, FL “The First Landing”







Melbourne, FL - U.T.B. United Third Bridge, Inc.  and The Florida Puerto Rican Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Inc. will present The V Centennial Celebration of the Discovery of Florida by Juan Ponce de Leon in Melbourne Beach, FL “ The First Landing” , taking place at Juan Ponce de Leon Landing Park  beginning on March 28, 2013 thru April 7, 2013, and featuring Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, V Centennial Gala and Award Ceremony, The Royal Mass, The Re-enactment of the 1513 Landing, The Unveiling of the Juan Ponce de Leon Statue, The USMC Fly Over, The Tall Ship Exhibition, The Cultural Festivals, the Arts and Crafts Show and the Juan Ponce de Leon International Parade.

This project and this historical event has support from the General Public, as well as Elected Official, who are Democratic, Independents and Republicans who will be invited to attend this week- long celebration.   Other supporters of this project are the Secretary of State of Florida, Viva 500, the Board of County Commissioners of Brevard County, The City Council of the Town of Melbourne Beach, State Senator Darren Soto from Florida, State Senator William Delgado from Illinois, and State Senator Rene Garcia from Florida. 

As President Obama stated in his State of the Union address on 10/19/2010.  “More than 52 million strong, including 4 million in Puerto Rico, Hispanics constitute the country’s largest and fastest growing minority.  They have had a profound and positive impact on our country, through among other things, their community’s strong commitment to family, faith, hard work, and service….Our country was built on and continues to thrive on its diversity and there is no doubt that the future of the United States is inextricably linked to the Hispanic community” 

U.T.B. United Third Bridge, Inc., is a not for profit, 501(c) 3 organization in the areas of educational, cultural and civil rights.  UTB was founded 37 years ago in New York and opened its Florida office in 1993.  We are in partnership with the Florida Puerto Rican/Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Inc., which is an umbrella coalition of Hispanic Chambers throughout the State of Florida.  We have also partnership for this Historical event with The Board of County Commissioners of Brevard County, Secretary of State of Florida, Viva Florida, the Town of Melbourne Beach and many others to schedule this week long Historical V Centennial Celebration of the discovery of Florida by Juan Ponce de Leon.
