Registration is now open for Fall Classes - Indian River Potters' Guild

Pottery Classes for Adults and Mature Teens

WHEEL THROWN POTTERY -- (Lori Emly, Instructor) All Skill Levels ($145 for six weeks) Tuesdays, 6-9 pm. Class begins October 30 and ends on Dec 11, 2012. This class covers basic and intermediate throwing and hand building skills. Lori is an experienced ceramic and glass artist with years of teaching experience. Her class allows for individual project and skill development.

SCULPTURE IN CLAY (Suzanne Peiffer, Instructor) -- ($145 for six weeks) Wednesdays, 9a - Noon. Class begins October 31, and ends on December 12. This class is designed for the beginning and continuing student. Suzanne is a classically trained sculptor with years of teaching experience. Students are encouraged to bring to class visual aids and inspiration for their personal projects. Individual attention will be given to each student throughout the course.

BEGINNING WHEEL THROWN POTTERY (Mary Moon, Instructor) -- ($145 for six weeks) Saturdays, 9:30am - 12:30pm. Class begins Saturday Nov 3, and ends December 15. Great class for beginning and continuing stdents. Class is limited to eight students, so registration is accepted on a first come, first served basis. Instruction will be focused on throwing bowls, cylinders, and mugs. Surface enrichment and glazing will also be covered. Please bring a towel to class (we tend to get a little messy).

Fused Glass and Mosaics:
FUSED GLASS -- (Lori Emly, Instructor) All Skill Levels ($125 for six weeks) Monday 9:30a - 12:30pm. Class begins Oct 29 and ends on Dec 10, 2012. Class covers the basic techniques of glass fusing. Learn to make pendants, earrings, bracelets, wine stoppers, small plates, and more. Students will learn to add interest by introducing frit, stringers and metals to their work. Students may bring their own glass, or supplies may be purchased from the instructor.

MOSAICS -- (Betsy Heath, Instructor) All Skill Levels ($150 for six weeks) Thursdays 9a - Noon. Class begins Nov 1 and ends on Dec 13, 2012. This class covers will cover basic mosaic techniques. Betsy is an experienced mosaic artist who has taught many workshops and classes. Students may bring a project of their own choosing, or they will have options supplied by the instructor. All levels of experience are welcome, and all forms of expression will be encouraged including functional and decorative pieces.

Pottery & Sculpture for Home Schoolers:
($115 for six weeks, registration and payment in advance is required to hold your spot, as space is limited) Wednesdays 2-4pm. Begins January 9, 2013 and ends on Feb 13, 2013. Great class for Home Schooled Children ages 10 and up. Class will cover the basics of wheel thrown and handbuilt pottery, and sculpture. Students will work on individual pieces learning techniques, and build confidence in the arts. The instructor will discuss the history and background of ceramic applications as well as cover significant artists’ contributions.
