Indian Harbour Beach, FL — In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Island Images’ Gallery of Hope is proud to present In Search of the Real Cuba, a compelling exhibition featuring modern-day Cuba by photographic artist and author Dawn Currie, resident of Indian Harbour Beach, FL.

The exhibit will run from Oct 3rd – 27th at the Gallery of Hope located at 2036 14th Avenue in the historic Theatre Plaza in downtown Vero Beach.  An opening reception will be held on Friday, Oct 5th from 5-8 PM, where you will be able to meet the artist and sample authentic Cuban cuisine provided by Latin Fusion Restaurant. The artist will also be giving a talk about her experience in Cuba on Saturday, Oct 6th from 10:30-noon.

Come see images that stir the mind and hear stories that touch the soul. These are the fruits of a physically and mentally challenging two-week trek by the author and artist that spans the island from east to west. Dawn brought school and clinic supplies and left enriched with memories to last a lifetime. Leave preconceptions behind. Dawn had unprecedented and unhindered access across the entire island that allowed her to capture daily life in words and images.  Share a glimpse of life in Cuba where time stands still, yet takes its toll.

The artist, Dawn Currie, exhibits extensively across the U.S. and has won multiple awards. Through her images, Dawn strives to capture the beauty and moments that enrich our daily lives, wherever life my take us. Most of us go through life rushing from one place to the next, mesmerized by electronic gadgets and not really seeing our world and all its riches. Her passion is to reveal the unexpected, to draw the viewer in, and to share what others rush by.
