Students explore personal and cultural history as they make figurative clay sculpture.  The instructor, Suzanne Peiffer, will cover basic construction techniques using modified slabs, coils, and simple armatures.  Special attention will go to head and facial modeling techniques, and how surface and form combine to create visual meaning. The class will work with a mid-range stoneware. Students may bring reference material such as photos, or images from magazines and books.
All experience levels are welcome and all forms of expression will be encouraged, including figurative, functional or abstract.
New class beginning June 13.  9am - Noon, class will run for five weeks.  Fee is $125, clay is an additional $16.  Class is held at Indian River Potters' Guild, 1542 Guava Avenue, Eau Gallie Arts District, Melbourne, FL  32935
