Scott Hatch knew growing up that he wanted to be an artist, he just had to convince his father.
With much discussion and coaxing he finally talked his dad into letting him attend Ringling School of Art in Sarasota.
After graduating in 1971 with a Bachelors Degree in Commercial Art, Scott still had to prove to his father that he had the drive to make it in this competitive market.
For four years he worked for Ads & Ends, an advertising company out of Palm Beach whose biggest client was Permatex, racing aficionados may remember them being the sponsor Sportsman 300 at Daytona.
When Scott was 26 years old he was hired by Walt Disney World. During his 34 years at Disney, he was fortunate enough to work with the Jim Henson Group. He also worked with George Lucas and was able to operate one of his favorite characters R2D2 at the opening of Star Tours.
Now, over 40 years later, Scott gets to "play" again. He loves art and creating images of beautiful blue serene waterscapes and marinas with playful seagulls frolicking in the wind. Creative things please him and bring him joy.
"One of the highlights of my career is being an artist on display at The Downtown Gallery," said Hatch.
Scott will be on display at The Downtown Gallery through the month of May. The gallery is located at 335 S. Washington Avenue in historic downtown Titusville. Call 321-268-0122 for more information.
