Museum Monday Program
to Feature Watercolorist
J. Susan Cole Stone
Melbourne, FL The Foosaner Art Museum Guild presents prize-winning watercolorist J. Susan Cole Stone, on Monday, April 16 at 10 A.M. in the museum's Harris Auditorium. Susan is artist member, co-owner and director of art education at the Art Gallery of Viera and is also plein-aire chairperson for the Brevard Watercolor Society. Watercolor is her favorite medium, followed closely by pen & ink. In addition to natural history (rendering birds, particularly waterfowl), she is an accomplished artist of architectural subjects and is able to render a detailed drawing from blueprints, or from life.
Susan relocated from Westerly RI, to Florida in January 2010. She has worked as a graphic artist and illustrator, exhibited in a number of galleries in Connecticut and won numerous awards for her watercolors and book illustrations. She traveled to Spain several years ago, finding abundant inspiration in the ancient buildings, the narrow streets and the magnificent countryside. The result was a new body of work that took her art in another direction. Later this year, Susan plans to travel to the south of France and Tuscany on a journey she expects will further her growth as an artist.
Museum Monday programs are free and open to the public, with light refreshments served. For additional information call 242-0737. The Foosaner Art Museum and adjacent Harris Auditorium are located at 1463 Highland Avenue in the Eau Gallie Arts District, Melbourne, FL.
