Hungarian Masterworks, From Impressionism to Modernism
March 31 – May 27, 2012
This thought-provoking exhibition presents a rare and intimate look at an exceptional collection of modern Hungarian art. Since Soviet dominance after World War II, the art world of Hungary was largely silenced. This powerful and beautiful body of work represents the rich and largely overlooked world of early 20th century central European visual culture. The paintings are brilliant and colorful. The drawings and sculptural works are alive with evolving vision and social meaning. This exhibition has been organized by the American Hungarian Foundation drawn from the collection of Jill A. Wiltse and H. Kirk Brown.
