“Tango & Art on the Prado, Havana”

A Note from Marjorie Pravden: We are Still in Business
To our many loyal supporters, patrons, volunteers and friends, we would like to apprise you of where we are and our plans for the future.  Cuba! Gallery of Fine Art has moved out of the 1900 Building in downtown Melbourne; we are morphing.  Our current inventory is stored in this moment in a convenient climate controlled facility on Wickham Road in Melbourne while we plan for projects in and out of the state of Florida.

We’re Going Places!
May, 2012 Opening.  Del Sol Restaurant.
Del Sol is back!  Remember, we lost this wonderful gem of a restaurant to the hurricanes of ‘06?   Now, Chef Raoul Mosquerda has redesigned, gutted and is building out a Del Sol redux at 2400 Dairy Road in Melbourne.  Same great chef, luscious, exotic cuisine and casual, upscale ambiance.  What does this have to do with Cuba! Gallery?  As with the “old” Del Sol, Raoul has again asked us to cover the walls of his new restaurant, on a permanent basis, with a rotating collection of beautiful Cuban art.  We are honored and excited about this partnership.  Look for our email about the Opening.

July 17 – August 31, 2012. The Exhibition, “Las Artes de Cuba!”   Asheville/Black Mountain, N.C.
Staged smack in the midst of peak season tourism, in the lively Arts District and in the restored, vintage Monte Vista Hotel.  Cuba! Gallery of Fine Art will be the sole presenter of Cuban art for “Las Artes de Cuba!” a multi-weekend event celebrating Cuban culture through art, lectures, cuisine and music.  Come up!

October – March, 2012-13, Local Exhibitions/Art Sales.
Our own season heats up here in Central Florida, and, in the spirit of bringing art to the people, Cuba Gallery will host exhibitions at various venues for “fat weekend” exhibitions of 2 or 3 days duration.  Broadly targeted venues are Brevard County, Orlando/Winter Park and Vero Beach.  We have some good ideas, but we need more brains on this.  If you know of an available upscale, well located, well lit, and well maintained home or business that is perfect for an art exhibition, please let us know.

Ongoing …
*We will retain our US Treasury Department license.
*We will continue to travel to Cuba to purchase art.
*We are outfitting a first floor, climate-controlled facility on Wickham Road in Melbourne with built out walls for easy viewing of the collection of art-in-storage.  Always available for an appointment.
*We will continue Cuba! Gallery’s presence in downtown Melbourne at Petite Boutiques (the old Christmas Cottage) where 25 to 30 works of Cuban art are always available.  New works are regularly rotated into the collection.  Since September, 2011, this satellite location with its window on the street, has been a successful outlet for us.  The address is 1002 E. New Haven Avenue, 321-725-0270.  Open every day of the year except major holidays.
All the best to you, and we hope to see you soon.
