On Saturday, February 11, 2012, eight Sebastian (Indian River County) artists will open their studios to the public for an art studio tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The First Annual Sebastian Art Studio Tour is an effort to raise the awareness of the quality of art and the growing community of artists and artisans in the small city on the shores of the Indian River Lagoon.
Creativity begins in the artist’s studio. Tucked away in residential neighborhoods and alternative spaces in this historic city is a wealth of artists and artisans creating in their studio. Rarely does the public have the opportunity to see where the artists create their works or an opportunity to discuss the artist’s inspiration, methods, materials, and creative process.
The First Annual (self-guided) Sebastian Art Studio Tour features a variety of different studios, representing eight artists including Rita Bernstein (silk), Robert Johnson (metal sculpture), Sharon Morgan (painting, mixed media), Geoffrey Myers (sculpture, Richard Ramirez (pottery), Mary Segal (painting, mixed media), Weldon Stout (oils, stained glass), and Quentin Walter (watercolors, mixed media). Meet the artists, browse among new works, and purchase art directly from the artists. Whether you are a long time collector, beginning your collection or searching for the perfect gift, the tour is a wonderful venue to shop for one-of-a-kind, original creations.
Maps for the tour and information on each of the exhibiting artists may be found online at SebastianArtStudioTour.com. Maps will be available on the day of the tour at Sunbelt Produce, 10625 US Highway 1 (corner of US 1 and Schumann Drive) and at the individual studios.
