America Beautiful's "America Recycles Day" .. Call to Artists

On November 15th, there will be an event for the Keep America Beautiful's "America Recycles Day". It will be a Tuesday, 2-6pm at the Viera Regional Park (Rotary Pavilion).

The event is basically to promote the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle). they are going to have a "Toy Swap/Drop Off" to get residents involved and benefit Brevard kids through "4 The Kids of Brevard" organization. They will also have a few educational games to entertain the kids and parents alike.

Brevard County will be participating with information on what can be recycled/days of collection, and will bring sign-up sheets for recycle bin requests and for landfill tours; Parks and Recreation is co-sponsoring and will have a table at the pavilion; "4 The Kids of Brevard" will be present to take the toys dropped off at the event; the Suntree/Viera Public Library will bring material to share and will be collecting books/magazines/DVDs; the Brevard's Green Team and students from BCC will probably be there too.

Parents and children from the community will be welcome to come by to swap their toys or donate unwanted, gently used toys to kids in need again, through "4 The Kids of Brevard").

Within the "reuse" theme, Marcia Booth thought that maybe an artist who reuses material in his/her work might be interested in participating to showcase his/her art. It would be a great example of reusing things that would otherwise end up in our landfills!

The event is free. The artist would have a picnic table at the pavilion to place their work, and to talk about and promote it.

The event, Recycling Fun - Toy Swap and Drop Off, is on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=138624976228947 and Marcia also created an Event listing for it at http://eventful.com/melbourne_fl/events/recycling-fun-toy-swap-and-drop-off-/E0-001-041131467-8

Please contact Marcia Booth if interested.
